A) Body & End Caps:
a. Grade-304 Stainless Steel: long life and no corrosion, rust or
flaking.
b. Polished to a mirror finish to give a superior appearance

Ceramic Fibre Packing:
a. Provides a much higher temperature resistance (1150dC) than glass
fibre which can degrade significantly under high heat.
b. Offers improved sound absorption over plain stainless and glass
fibre packing.
C)
Stainless Steel Mesh Liner: Provides
durability and prevents the blow out of packing material over time.
D) Core.
a. Straight Through Perforated Tube: Minimises back pressure and
maximises exhaust flow, whilst allowing sound to be absorbed effectively through
perforations. This all amounts to better engine performance and efficiency.
b. Constructed from 100% Grade-304 Stainless Steel: long life and no
corrosion, rust or flaking.

Materials &
Construction
All of our products
are fabricated from 100% Grade T-304 Stainless Steel (yes, inside AND out!).
This means that there is no corrosion and deterioration within the
muffler.
Our mufflers
feature a straight through design to maximise power and also exhaust tone.
All Rival Performance Mufflers are also polished to a mirror finish and are
seamlessly welded to give an incredibly high quality finish.
Why Straight
Through...
Muffler flow is an
incredibly important factor in the design of any performance exhaust system.
A higher flowing muffler reduces the back pressure of the exhaust system,
allowing the gasses to pass out of the engine less restricted.
In effect, an
engine with a highly restrictive exhaust setup is actually using some of its
power to literally force the gas out of the car. Reducing this back pressure can
therefore exploit these extra kilowatts!!!
It is for this
reason that Rival Performance uses the proven straight through perforated
tube design in all of its mufflers. The straight flow path creates as
laminar a flow as possible, meaning minimal energy lost through backpressure
up the exhaust.
Packing
All of our mufflers
use a Ceramic Fibre Packing (CFP) as a sound altering material. CFP is used
in our mufflers for its advantages over much cheaper fibreglass packed
mufflers. CFP has a much higher heat tolerance (1150oC) than
fibreglass and has proven to have a much more desirable exhaust tone.
Stainless Steel Mesh Liner
All Rival
Mufflers employ a Stainless steel mesh layer between the Ceramic Fibre
Packing and the Perforated straight through core.
This layer of
Stainless mesh prevents the ceramic fibre packing from what is termed
"blow out".
Blow out is where
over time the packing material in cheaper mufflers will blow out of the
small holes in the core tube eventually leaving you with a muffler with a
lot less packing than originally constructed, this will ruin the sound
quality of your muffler.
